Wednesday 6.30pm to 8pm - Yoga

With Rob Fowler

I first practised yoga 50 years ago (yes, I really am that old) and continued to study yoga for the next 10 years or so. After a serious climbing accident where I suffered a spinal fracture and several soft tissue injuries I lost contact with yoga. Later in life I rediscovered yoga – as a release from the stresses of my career at the time and as physical and emotional support in dealing with my continuing back issues.

I studied to become a Hatha yoga teacher after encouragement from my teachers – and subsequently I have studied Yin and Restorative yoga with Ram Jain. I continue to study yoga and meditation with Ram and other teachers from a range of disciplines.

Thursdays 7:15 - 8:15am | Yoga

With Flo Lamela

Yoga has been part of my life for many years, and what began as a way to understand my body and reconnect with myself slowly grew into a deep love and calling to share the practice with others. Teaching feels like a natural extension of my own journey—one that’s all about holding space for those searching for balance, self-care, to breathe and feel good in their own skin.

I teach Hatha & Vinyasa yoga and every class I create is a sanctuary space where you can ground, move, and centre yourself before the rest of the world asks for your attention.

I will guide you through a gentle yet energising Yoga class . We’ll combine movement, breath, and mindfulness to awaken the body, ease the mind, and leave you stepping into your day feeling steady, clear, and refreshed.

Whether you’re new to yoga or returning to your mat, this class is an invitation to carve out a little ritual of your own—one that nourishes you, strengthens you, and reminds you to begin each day with intention.

I’d love to welcome you to Soulands Studio and share these early mornings together.

Thursday 9.30am to 10.30am - Foundation Training

With Kate Atack

Foundation Training are exercises that help build better posture, correct foundational movement patterns, such as hinging, and creates space in the body and joints to reduce pain and promoted healing.
It benefits everyone but anyone who if struggling with back, hip, knee or shoulder pain should definitely give it a try. The exercises can take a while to understand but once understood then what I love about FT is that a little goes along way. 10 minutes a day can make a big impact. But what most people like its the awareness it gives them of their own posture and movement and the tool to relieve any tightness or discomfort. Foundation Training is also complementary to all movement and sports.
It is not yoga or Pilates or HIT but you will work hard and sweat and you will feel stretched.
Come give it a go and see the difference it makes.
Kate has had many lives from Tropical Marine Biologist to Ambulance Technician to Specialist Beer shop manger and now into alternative therapy and movement. I love getting people back into living a full fun and active life.

Friday 10am to 12 mid day - Slow Flow Yoga with the Alexander Technique

With Alison Marsden

As well as her Friday Classes Alison also offers private sessions and programmes.

These range from 2 to 5 months long and help accelerate attendees' progress so they can live a life of freedom and choice, pain free again.

Alison trained with the  Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique in Kendal, Cumbria and has been teaching since 2001. She has also trained as a Reflexologists with the Association of Reflexologists, Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance Professionals,  and specialises in Pregnancy and Childbirth qualifying as a Doula and in Eutokia. Before her training she worked in the computer industry and initially came across the Alexander Technique through back pain.

She has always had a love of movement and wanted to be a dancer as a child but suffered from digestive pain and was unable to pursue this dream. In her early twenties she suffered from back pain and in her journey to getting better came across the Alexander Technique. Since her mid twenties she has applied her Alexander Technique and Yoga knowledge to improving her quality of movement and running style. She now teaches people how to regain the joy of movement without the need of pain killers.

She also has a love for cycling, gardening, and cooking. Through her natural love of cooking she runs cookery demonstrations and developed a routine to help maintain her digestive health which she now teaches on her Re-balancing Your Diet Courses along with the concept of Life Style Nutrition.

With her family of two boys she has developed an interest with teaching the Alexander Technique to children both in and out of school. This type of work really inspires Alison to create fun ways of learning both for adults and children, helping people learn in an easy way, feeding their confidence and spirit.https://www.integratinghealth.com/slow-flow-yoga-at-penrith
